Co-evolution loop improves AI agents and their training environments
Improve AI agents by iteratively refining their training worlds based on agent failures.
The real leverage for improving computer-use agents comes from a loop that keeps improving the training environments, not just adding more environments.
This approach treats building the environment and training the model as a single, integrated process. The loop involves running a model in a world, identifying where it fails, making the world, its tasks, and its verifiers more faithful or demanding in those failure areas, training on the improved signal, and repeating. This co-evolution compounds improvements, unlike ordinary fine-tuning which only improves the model.
An AI agent fails to correctly book a meeting. The training world is updated to present more complex scheduling conflicts or clearer error messages related to booking. The agent is then retrained on this enhanced world.
Improve AI agents by iteratively refining their training worlds based on agent failures. This co-evolutionary loop enhances both the agent's performance and the fidelity of its training environment over time.
This method ensures that the training environment directly addresses the agent's weaknesses. By making the world, tasks, and verifiers more faithful or demanding where the agent fails, the training signal becomes sharper and more effective.
This is not applicable for simple agent tasks where a static, well-defined training set is sufficient.
