To allow general users access to most Fable 5 and 5.1 capabilities while mitigating risks, Claude redirects or blocks responses in specific sensitive areas. Automatic switching allows a fallback to a less capable model (Opus) for these blocked requests, ensuring a response is still provided. This setting lets you disable this fallback behavior if preferred.
This setting controls whether Claude automatically switches to a less capable model, like Opus, when a request is blocked by safeguards on Fable 5 or Fable 5.1. It is enabled by default but can be turned off for more control over model behavior.
When automatic switching is off, a blocked request pauses the conversation instead of switching models, giving the user direct control over how to proceed.
